  I would be very skeptical of what the dentist here tell you. I went for a regular check up with a young dentist who just graduated from U of T about a year ago. After having my x rays taken, she informed me, to my surprise, that I have cavities on 3 sets of teeth, although I have never felt even the slightest of discomfort anywhere in my mouth. An estimation of the cost of fillings is a grand total of about $1600. Being the usual skeptical me, I took the pictures to a dentist friend who has more years of experience and is now is dental school again for a specialist degree. He looked at the pictures and told me at best, those are R1 radioluncency and no filling is required. just need to floss well and continue monitoring, as the teeth will heal on its own. He says any dentist who has graduated should be able to see it easily. So moral of the story is, take your dentist's advise with a pinch of salt, and try to get a second opinion from someone professional who is not financially motivated. next time I visit this clinic, I will ask for another dentist to see me instead of the inexperienced (or unethical?) lady I had.
