  Today, I phoned west gate Medicenter to verify the appointment time with Dr. Sia. I booked an appointment last month mo took off today for my son's medical procedure. For the record, Dr. Sia is a phenomenal surgeon, very friendly, professional and that's the reason why I go to Medicenter. He was also referred by my family Doctor Khan at West end callingwood center who is tantamount as best family doctor in Edmonton. I am very unhappy on how the receptionist named Eve (Filipina,igorot) handled the situation with my appointment. I am also Filipina and loved all my Filipino friends igorot (many to mention) but she is worst in customer service and no grace under pressure. I am also in customer service and a nurse. I valued and respect my clients in whatever color or race. The way she answered phone, sounds she's not happy with her work. I asked her if she could help me to verify the exact time of appointment. She asked me,"what's the healthcare no.?" I kindly ask if okay to give her my son's name and identifiers and she responded, "what's the healthcare no.? (with sarcasm) I immediately grabbed my wallet and took the card and apologized. She said that my son is not booked at West gate Medicenter. I explained to her that I took off today from work and asked what help she can offer me. While she's checking files in their system and consulting pieces of information to someone. She sounded irritated already and told me that she'll call me back. She phoned back after 10 mins. And told me to call Bel reeave Medicenter to check the appointment. I phoned Bel reeave Medicenter and told me that my son is not booked today too. So I phoned back west gate Medicenter and advised them the information given to me. So I was able to speak again with Eve. She told me with full sarcasm,"i told you to call bel reeave and check the appointment on 22nd at 7:30 pm and so on..." I tried to talk to her in friendly manner in Tagalog to make her feel that I understand the stress in situation and of course be willing to cooperate if Dr. Sia is not available. If the appointment is not scheduled today, why do I have to call other Medicenter back and forth if she can give me confirmation right upfront? If there is a miscommunication with the appointment, why can't she APOLOGIZE and re assure me that my son will be seen by doctor on scheduled date?Instead, after I have confirmed with her that there is no way for my son's medical procedure to be done today. The conversation ended WITHOUT THANK YOU..and noticeable LOUD bang of the phone. Mngt, Pls. Look into this. I will not take my 2 kids in this Medicenter anymore unless I need to see Dr. Sia but definitely NOT in this branch. Thank you.
